28 de mai. de 2024 · Everett Shinn was born on November 6, 1876 in Woodstown, New Jersey, the son of Isaiah and Josephine Ransley Shinn. He attended Quaker schools until 1890 when he went to the Spring Garden Institute in Philadelphia, studying engineering and industrial design until 1893.

A native of New Jersey, Everett Shinn took night classes at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts while employed as an artist-reporter at various Philadelphia newspapers. In 1897 he moved to New York to work for Joseph Pulitzer’s New York World.
Everett Shinn was an American painter and member of the urban realist Ashcan School. Shinn started as a newspaper illustrator in Philadelphia, demonstrating a rare facility for depicting animated movement, a skill that would, however, soon be eclipsed by photography.
