Meret Oppenheim (Berlín; 6 de octubre de 1913 - Basilea; 15 de noviembre de 1985) fue una artista y fotógrafa suiza que se encuadró en el movimiento surrealista. [1] Biografía. Nació en el barrio berlinés de Charlottenburg, su padre alemán y su madre suiza.
Meret Oppenheim naît à Berlin d’un père allemand et d’une mère suisse, Eva Wenger, sœur de la peintre et cantatrice Ruth Wenger une des épouses de Hermann Hesse. Meret Oppenheim a une sœur, Kristin, née en 1915, ainsi qu'un frère, Burkhard, né en 1919. Elle quitte l'école à dix-sept ans pour apprendre la peinture.
In 1936, Meret Oppenheim was at a Paris café with Dora Maar and Pablo Picasso, who noticed the fur-lined, polished metal bracelet she was wearing and joked that anything could be covered with fur. “Even this cup and saucer,” Oppenheim replied and, carrying the merriment further, called out, “Waiter, a little more fur!”
