30 de out. de 2020 · The sculptors and married couple Barbara Hepworth and John Skeaping lived at 24 St Ann’s Terrace, St John’s Wood in 1927–8, during the early stages of their careers. Hepworth broke new ground with her abstract sculptural forms and became a pioneering figure in British modernism, while Skeaping became a leading specialist in the realistic representation of animals.
John Skeaping ( 9 juin 1901 - 5 mars 1980) est un sculpteur et peintre anglais. Fils de peintre, il a fait ses études au Goldsmiths College et à la Central School of Art de 1917 à 1919, puis et à la Royal Academy de 1919 à 1920. Il gagne le Prix de Rome en 1924 et épouse le sculpteur Barbara Hepworth à Florence la même année.

Mare and Foal is a School Print (SP1) from 1945 by John Skeaping (1901 – 1980). John Rattenbury Skeaping, RA was an English sculptor and equine painter. He designed animal figures for Wedgwood and his life-size statue of Secretariat is exhibited at the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame. The condition of the print is good.
