Lady Barbara Fitzroy was the sixth and youngest child of Barbara Palmer, 1st Duchess of Cleveland, and King Charles II of England, although her paternity has been disputed. She became a Benedictine nun in the English Priory of Saint Nicholas, at Pontoise in France, taking the name Sister Benedicta, where she later became prioress in 1721.
Lady Barbara FitzRoy. The Duchess of Cleveland gave birth to her final child, Barbara, on 16th July 1672…but the child was not Charles II’s offspring. Though Cleveland initially claimed that Barbara was Charles II’s daughter, and gave her the surname FitzRoy, the king refused to officially acknowledge her as his own.

Barbara Palmer ( 1640 – 9 oktober 1709) was 1e hertogin van Cleveland en een van de minnaressen van koning Karel II van Engeland . Ze werd geboren als Barbara Villiers, de dochter van de graaf van Grandiston, William Villiers. Hij stierf in 1643 aan een oorlogswond, waardoor zijn vrouw en kind in benarde situatie achterbleven.
