Nascido na Polônia em 1926, mudou-se para os Estados Unidos dois anos depois, onde formou-se em Engenharia Elétrica e realizou estudos para elaborar uma forma eficiente e segura de comunicação.

Born in Poland, Paul immigrated to the US, where he graduated from Drexel University in 1949 with a degree in electrical engineering.

He received a BS in electrical engineering from Drexel Institute of Technology (1949) and an MS in electrical engineering from UCLA (1959). Baran began working with computers as a technician on the groundbreaking UNIVAC I (1951) computer system, the first commercially available computer in the United States.
