Winwood werd geboren in Birmingham en was al vroeg actief in de rhythm-and-blues-scene in die plaats. Time has been very kind to Electric Ladyland. It has consistently ranked high on many greatest albums of all time lists including Rolling Stone ’s 500 greatest albums of all time (it ranks #53).
