  7. The Halley Academy opened as a new school within Leigh Academies Trust in 2018. The principal was appointed at the same time, and there have also been other substantial staff changes. The school has a specially resourced provision for 16 pupils with autism spectrum disorder. This is known as the Infinity Hub.
