She amps up that somber, deadpan delivery of Nico by letting her notes hum a little longer, verging on Angel Olsen’s style of warbling. All three are musicians who sing with a sense of detachment, but Mering also peers into the chasm of an emotional collapse after digging her feet deep into the ground.

Como Weyes Bluhd, fez três álbuns auto-lançados, alterando seu nome para Weyes Blood a partir do lançamento de The Outside Room (2011) pela micro-gravadora Not Not Fun Records. Ela então assinou um contrato de gravação com a gravadora independente Mexican Summer, lançando The Innocents (2014) e Front Row Seat to Earth (2016).
