Netherlands. The United Duchies of Jülich-Cleves-Berg was a territory in the Holy Roman Empire between 1521 and 1666, formed from the personal union of the duchies of Jülich, Cleves and Berg . The name was resurrected after the Congress of Vienna for the province of Jülich-Cleves-Berg of the Kingdom of Prussia between 1815 and 1822.
Archduchess Maria of Austria (15 May 1531 – 11 December 1581) was the daughter of Ferdinand I, Holy Roman Emperor from the House of Habsburg and Anna of Bohemia and Hungary. She married William, Duke of Jülich-Cleves-Berg on 18 July 1546 as his second wife.

Das Haus Jülich-Berg. Der kinderlose Graf Adolf VI. hatte seiner Nichte Margarete von Ravensberg das bergische Erbe zugesichert. Diese ist verheiratet mit Gerhard, Sohn des Markkgrafen Wilhelm V. von Jülich und durch die Heirat mit Margarete seit 1346 bereits Graf von Ravensberg. Nun wird er auch Graf von Berg. 1.
