He grew up with his brothers, Kenneth Schmidt and Kevin Schmidt who are also actors. His acting career began at age five when he appeared in a T.V. commercial for Chex.

He is my best friend. In Big Time Rush, Kendall is "Kendall." Before Nickelodeon, he had a guest appearance on Frasier.
