Alt-rock legends Semisonic's new EP,' You're Not Alone', is Semisonic's first release in nearly two decades. When creating this new music, patience was a virtue for Semisonic frontman and Grammy-winning songwriter and producer Dan Wilson. Throughout the years, Wilson would try to write new Semisonic songs that stayed true to their classic sound.

Wilson had spoken about doing more Semisonic music in the future but said, "The busy day-to-day life keeps pushing it further into the future." All About Chemistry would be their last studio release until reconvening for the You're Not Alone EP which they put out in 2020.
They reformed in 2017 to commemorate the twentieth anniversary of their debut album, Great Divide. In 2020, they released the EP You’re Not Alone, their first release of new material in 19 years.
Semisonic split up in 2001 after releasing their third album, All About Chemistry. The band re-formed in 2017, and in 2020 released their first song since their breakup: "You're Not Alone," the title track to a 5-song EP.
