Miracle In The Rain is a good, but very strange film. You first start watching it and you think you're seeing a nice romantic film with a wartime setting. But it takes a very unexpected turn into the supernatural and in the end a miracle of sorts is actually performed. And right on the steps of New York's St. Patrick's Cathedral.
Miracle in the Rain opened in April 1956 and caused no great shakes with the public or the critics, though Wyman's vulnerable performance did receive some notice. "Overly saccharine," concluded The New York Times .

This lesser known Jane Wyman vehicle is another melodrama, no doubt trying to capitalize on her popular teamings with Douglas Sirk and Rock Hudson. While it's nowhere near as strong as those two, Miracle in the Rain is no less heartfelt or endearing, and I'd argue her character of Ruth (or Ruthie) is better than her Helen in Magnificent Obsession.
