Gilbert Elliot is a member of Clan Elliot. 2nd Baronet of Minto. In 1718 he married Helen Stewart, the daughter of Sir Robert Stewart, 1st Baronet. children : Gilbert, Eleanora, Andrew (who died sailing to Holland) and George. He died on 16 April 1766.
