When an artist is living and depicting horse and dog racing, sparks fly. John Skeaping and his first wife, Barbara Hepworth, were art’s golden couple in the 1920s.
Mare and Foal is a School Print (SP1) from 1945 by John Skeaping (1901 – 1980). John Rattenbury Skeaping, RA was an English sculptor and equine painter. He designed animal figures for Wedgwood and his life-size statue of Secretariat is exhibited at the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame. The condition of the print is good.
