Arthur's elder brother was Trevor Hill. 1st Viscount Hillsborough, father of the 1st Marquess of Downshire. He represented Hillsborough in the Irish House of Commons from November 1715 and then County Down from 1727 until he was raised to the Irish House of Lords when created Viscount Dungannon and Baron Hill of Olderfleet in the Peerage of Ireland on 17 February 1766.

Marquess of Downshire is a title in the Peerage of Ireland. It was created in 1789 for Wills Hill, 1st Earl of Hillsborough, a former Secretary of State.. Hill had already been created Earl of Hillsborough and Viscount Kilwarlin of County Down in the Peerage of Ireland in 1751 with remainder, in default of male issue of his own, to his uncle Arthur Hill, 1st Viscount Dungannon.

Anne Stafford, daughter of Edmund Francis Stafford by his wife Penelope Leslie, was born in 1715 and in 1737 married Arthur Hill, later Arthur Hill-Trevor, who was raised to the Irish peerage as 1st Viscount Dungannon. TREVOR, ARTHUR HILL-, third viscount Dungannon of the second creation in the peerage of Ireland (1798–1862), born in Berkeley Square, London, on 9 Nov. 1798, was the only surviving son of Arthur Hill-Trevor, second viscount (1763–1837), by Charlotte, third daughter of Charles Fitzroy, first baron Southampton.
