Kilmarnock Academy (Scottish Gaelic: Acadamaidh Chille Mheàrnaig), formerly Kilmarnock Burgh School, is an 11–17 co-educational state-funded secondary school in Kilmarnock, Scotland, currently serving in its third location on Sutherland Drive in the New Farm Loch area of the town.
There are a number of reasons why it is important for pupils to wear school uniform. Security – intruders are easily identified. Kilmarnock Academy is a non-denominational comprehensive secondary school with a current roll of 526 pupils. The roll includes a large number of pupils who attend on placing requests from outwith the school catchment area. The school has pupils from 1st to 6th years, aged from 11 – 18.
Kilmarnock Academy is one of only two schools in the UK, and the only school in Scotland, to have educated two Nobel Prize laureates - one being Sir Alexander Fleming, and the other Sir John Boyd Orr.
29 de nov. de 2023 · Kilmarnock Academy: a school prioritising relationships. Kilmarnock Academy was a new school – created by merging James Hamilton Academy and the old Kilmarnock Academy – that opened fully to 1,200 students and 100 staff in April 2018.
At Kilmarnock Academy we seek for our pupils an education which will meet their needs, and which will prepare them to take their place in society and in the ever changing world of work.
