Clannad is a Japanese visual novel developed by Key and released on April 28, 2004, for Windows. While both of Key's first two previous works, Kanon and Air, had been released first as adult games and then censored for the younger market, Clannad was specifically made for all ages.
Clannad is a 2007-2008 anime series based on a visual novel. It follows the story of Tomoya, a high school student who befriends Nagisa, a girl who had to repeat a year, and other characters with their own arcs and conflicts.

A história segue a vida de Tomoya Okazaki, um estudante do ensino médio que se encontra desinteressado pela vida. Ele conhece Nagisa Furukawa, uma garota que está repetindo o último ano do ensino médio devido a problemas de saúde.
A história de Clannad gira em torno de Tomoya Okazaki, um estudante do terceiro ano do ensino médio que não gosta sua vida. A mãe de Tomoya, Atsuko, morreu quando Tomoya era pequeno, deixando seu pai, Naoyuki, para cuidá-lo. Após o acidente, o pai de Tomoya se tornou viciado em álcool e jogo, e criou brigas com seu filho.
